JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:  Arlington After School Program - Curriculum Coordinator

JOB GOAL:  To help raise the quality of activities presented to after-school students on a daily basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

This person should possess a consistent demonstration of effective interpersonal relationship skills, which will enable them to interact in a professional manner with colleagues, staff, and other stakeholders.

1. Bachelor's Degree in a field related to education or curriculum development from an accredited institution. 
2. Relevant training or certification is preferred.
3. At least 5 years experience in education or organized setting working with elementary-aged children.
4. Experience with curriculum development and implementation, including conducting professional development for those working with young children.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

1. Ability to prioritize tasks and work assignments is essential, particularly in this fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
2. Capacity to work in a confidential manner
3. A moderate degree of independent decision-making and knowledge of the function of the work environment.
4. 3-5 years curriculum development experience.
5. 1-2 years supervisory experience.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Observes teachers in class during curriculum time.
2. Evaluates classes
3. Works with teachers to refine teaching skills
4. Works with teachers during prep time to develop, review and modify lesson plans
5. Models different teaching styles to teachers
6. Coordinates curriculum groups meeting between schools on a regular basis
7. Schedules classroom/behavior management and curriculum development trainings for all schools
8. Helps teach classes to cover for absent teachers
9. Works with site coordinators on evaluations for staff
10. Coordinates the intern program.
11. Interviews potential interns
12. Observes interns for discussions with advisors

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12:00 - 6:00 Mon-Fri (180 days per year) Stipend/additional pay available for vacations and summer

REPORTS TO:  Director of Arlington After School Program

SALARY/BENEFITS: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
