JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Arlington After School Program - Curriculum Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To help raise the quality of activities presented to after-school students on a daily basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
This person should possess a consistent demonstration of effective interpersonal relationship skills, which will enable them to interact in a professional manner with colleagues, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to education or curriculum development from an accredited institution.
- Relevant training or certification is preferred.
- At least 5 years experience in education or organized setting working with elementary-aged children.
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation, including conducting professional development for those working with young children.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work assignments is essential, particularly in this fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Capacity to work in a confidential manner
- A moderate degree of independent decision-making and knowledge of the function of the work environment.
- 3-5 years curriculum development experience.
- 1-2 years supervisory experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observes teachers in class during curriculum time.
- Evaluates classes
- Works with teachers to refine teaching skills
- Works with teachers during prep time to develop, review and modify lesson plans
- Models different teaching styles to teachers
- Coordinates curriculum groups meeting between schools on a regular basis
- Schedules classroom/behavior management and curriculum development trainings for all schools
- Helps teach classes to cover for absent teachers
- Works with site coordinators on evaluations for staff
- Coordinates the intern program.
- Interviews potential interns
- Observes interns for discussions with advisors
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12:00 - 6:00 Mon-Fri (180 days per year) Stipend/additional pay available for vacations and summer
REPORTS TO: Director of Arlington After School Program
SALARY/BENEFITS: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
