JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Sister City Partnership Coordinator - Arlington-Nagaokakyo
JOB GOALS: The Arlington-Nagaokakyo Sister City Partnership Coordinator will oversee and manage all Arlington side aspects of the sister city relationship between Arlington, Massachusetts, and Nagaokakyo, Japan. This position aims to foster cross-cultural exchange and understanding, strengthen community engagement, and promote meaningful international relationships. The coordinator will manage annual student exchanges, facilitate official delegation visits, and support local community education efforts related to the partnership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, International Relations, Program Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proficiency in Japanese is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Arlington’s community resources and Japanese cultural practices is a plus.
- On call (24 hour) availability for 10-15 days in the Spring in preparation for and during the visit
- Applicant must have valid driver's license and own reliable mode of transportation
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Program Logistics and Planning: Organize and manage logistics for annual student exchanges and five-year official delegation visits, coordinating with staff in both Arlington and Nagaokakyo.
- Community and Educational Coordination: Partner with ACE and other APS and Town organizations as necessary to provide and organize educational opportunities and resources related to the program
- Host Family Matching and Student Preparation: Advertise, interview, match students with host families, and provide orientations on cultural expectations, travel logistics, and safety.
- Marketing and Promotion: Develop promotional materials, conduct outreach, and work with local media and schools to raise program awareness.
- Budget and Resource Management: Oversee program budget, manage expenses, and seek out grants and sponsorships to support cultural activities.
- Relationship Building and Event Management: Coordinate cultural and social events for visiting delegations and serve as the primary contact between Arlington and Nagaokakyo.

SALARY & BENEFITS: $8,000
