POSITION: High School Mathematics Teacher
LOCATION: Arlington High School
POSITION GOAL: To provide mathematics instruction according to the Arlington Public School
curriculum and Massachusetts standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Mathematics Teacher at the Secondary level
- Degrees in Mathematics and Education preferred
- Computer Science content knowledge and teaching experience desired
- Experience working with students at the High School Level.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous mathematics lessons
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners with varied learning profiles
- Assess student performance formally and informally, and provide timely feedback to students on their progress
- Teach five sections of mathematics, that could include Algebra II, Geometry, and Precalculus
- Collaborate with colleagues to assess student outcomes and share best practices for teaching mathematics.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture where all students feel supported and encouraged to participate.
- Follow district policies and school and department expectations with respect to instruction, grading, and communication to parents and families
- Perform other such related duties as may be required by the Director of Mathematics or Building Administrators.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: Arlington Education Association Bargaining Unit Position,
REPORTS TO: K-12 Mathematics and Computer Science Director (primary) and building principals (contributing).
SALARY: Per the Arlington Education Association Contract
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Arlington Education Association Contract. The K-12 Mathematics and Computer Science Director will complete evaluations with support from the building principals.
Arlington has a well established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year.
Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.
The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience.
