Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher

Substitute Special Education Teacher- This is a long term substitute position to cover for a high school special education teacher who will be on a leave of absence with tentative dates between August 28 - November 18, 2024.

 

Emphasis is on Geometry and Academic Support, though subject knowledge and experience in all curricular areas are helpful. Job Goal: This position is responsible for planning instruction and curriculum modifications for included special needs students that allow them to meet high standards and succeed in typical settings. The focus of this position will be leading small group instruction and supporting inclusion in other subjects.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct instruction to students within the small group and co-teach in the regular education classrooms. This includes planning and teaching in a small group program class.

2. Plan and modify the regular curriculum.

3. Consult with regular education staff.

4. Monitor student progress.

5. Develop IEPs and determine goals and objectives.

6. Prepare progress reports.

7. Maintain contact with parents.

8. Attend building learning team meetings.

9. Direct the work of teaching assistants.

10. Perform other tasks assigned by the Building Principal and/or Special Education Administrator.
