JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION: TITLE I ELEMENTARY LITERACY TUTOR (0.4 FTE)

 

JOB GOAL: To provide direct instruction in reading to small groups of students 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Certified elementary teacher, background in literacy preferred

  1. Ability to work effectively with small groups of diverse learners
  2. Ability to provide specific reading instruction to students in need of additional support
  3. Ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of staff, including classroom teachers and reading specialists
  4. Some teaching or teacher assistance experience in an elementary setting preferred

 

REPORTS TO: Principal in the building 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provide reading instruction for small groups of children in grades K-5 under the supervision of a the principal, district literacy coach and the building reading teacher
  2. Conduct district reading assessments and progress monitoring checks under the supervision of a reading teacher or literacy coach
  3. Assist teachers with recording and analyzing assessment data to inform instruction
  4. Attend relevant meetings on students in the program
  5. Write periodic reports on student progress
  6. Other tasks as needed
